BLOGS CAN BE A GREAT TOOL TO BUILD LOCAL MARKET RECOGNITION AND POSITION YOURSELF AS THE ‘GO-TO’ LOCAL REAL ESTATE ADVISOR

Blogs are a more ’seasoned’ variety of social media having gained prominence over the past five years. Used effectively, they can be an excellent addition to your online media and marketing strategy.

Creating fresh content and posting frequently to your blog site can be a challenge and potentially a major distraction for your core business focus. Fortunately there are some useful strategies to keep in mind that can help you have plenty of fresh and unique content.

RE-BLOGGING – Re-blogging is simply copying a blog post in its entirety into your blog. This gives additional exposure to the writer of the original content. Depending on your blog service, you might have an integrated ‘re-blogging’ tool – such as is found on ActiveRain – which takes care of properly crediting the writer and posting a link back. Otherwise, be sure to follow EXIT’s Guidelines for Marketing on the Internet and link back and credit all of your re-blogging.

QUOTING – Oftentimes you may wish to use portions of a blog post to highlight a particular news item, trend, or real estate insight. In these situations, be sure to source the quote and provide a link back to the original post.

Both of these strategies are simple to use and can be used to spark an idea for YOUR blog post. Just remember, giving appropriate credit with links is the ‘golden rule’ of social media.

All media is ’social’; the people that come in contact with your content impacts each of them at a social level. They might learn something; they might share it; they might ask for your help, and they might even decide to do business with you. The bottom line – it’s just content. This is the driving force of a business on the web and at its core – it’s simply people talking to each other. If you try to make it more complicated or allow it to define you or your business, you should think twice because you’re about to drive off the road and deep into Social Media Technogeekery – a very dark place.

Here are my top 7 tips to businesses that are serious about social media (i.e., “media”)…

  1. Social media is simply people talking to people.
  2. Don’t do social media because everyone else is doing it; instead, get involved to communicate your passion for your business.
  3. If you’re going to say something to your audience, make sure it’s a message you truly care about.
  4. Using social media (or any wizbang technology) is not a magic bullet, it’s a lot of work and requires a passion for communicating.
  5. The number of people following your social media is important only to the extent that the most passionate and persuasive thought leaders in your industry are listening.
  6. There is no finish line in social media.
  7. Just write about your business passion.

Take your time, go slow, and plan your strategy – there’s no rush.

EXIT MidSouth hosted a full day of training in which Key Yessaad, Real Estate Web Trainer trained the EXIT agents on how to make Google lean towards our websites and how to drive Google bots to EXIT.  Key says that the mentality of “Build It and They Will Come, is almost correct.  But more accurately it is Build It, Tell Google About It, Then They Will Come!”, where web strategies are concerned.    As EXIT agents are becoming more skilled at getting the ear of Google, the public will start to see more EXIT listings and the EXIT agents can show that thy are dominating local area markets and obtaining more listings.     If you are in the market to buy or sell real estate, please look for an EXIT office near you.

EXIT Realty Brokers and Owners Quarterly Meeting | Key Yessaad Addresses the group to talk about growing web presence | Sponsored by Moovers and Overland Title Company

On September 2nd EXIT Realty Franchise owners from Tennessee and Kentucky were hosted at the Lake Providence Residence Club in Mt Juliet, TN by EXIT MidSouth, the regional owners, for their quarterly broker owner meeting.   The meeting was sponsored by a great title company for all real estate Tennessee closing needs, Overland Title Company, LLC with CEO Mark Dougal and an innovative fixed price moving company Moovers, with franchise owner Daniel Gardonia.  The meeting had a guest speaker/trainer on web strategies name Key Yessaad who addressed the brokers for about two hours on the topic of implementing techniques and systems that will create empowerment for our agents to generate more listings and to unchain our brokers from the old Internet business models of paying for leads.  The discussion was a collaboration of ideas and brainstorming to generate the thoughts that will lead to great changes in the presence EXIT Realty, EXIT MidSouth, EXIT brokerages, and EXIT agents on the Internet.  Some of the brokerages in attendance were Exit Realty Bob Lamb and Associates, who announced that he had just had a record breaking month of production in August, EXT Realty Network, who introduced his new broker Gina Kellum,  EXIT Realty Clarksville, EXIT Realty Music City, who received the traveling participation award trophy from the last TREC CE course we held, EXIT Triple E Realty, EXIT 1st Choice Realty, EXIT Realty New Edge, EXIT Realty Partners, who announced a new building had just been purchased for their office, EXIT Select Realty, EXIT Real Estate Associates, EXIT Real Estate Solutions, EXIT Real Estate Professionals, EXIT Lake Real Estate, EXIT Upward Realty, EXIT Realty the Covenant Group, EXIT Realty Crutcher, and EXIT Realty Group.

CEO of EXIT MidSouth, Jean Marie Grumbles, presented the attendees with the State of EXIT Realty, the state of the region, the market statistics and metrics of our competition in the marketplace.  Astounding were the results as company after company has had decreases in production since 2006 and yet EXIT Realty continued to grow while others were saying “flat is the new growth”.  Our billboard campaign is in full swing and the mantra “EXIT REALTY is GROWING! ” is a positive affirmation that is ringing true for our brokerages.    We concluded the meeting with a round table discussions and role playing scenarios to improve our brokers skills.    Many of the out of town brokers made plans to attend the invitation only Web Blogging Strategies training class on Thursday September 3rd again at the Lake Providence Residence Amenity Center.  This training will include agents as well as brokers and will enlighten the agents on productive blogging techniques that will get them immediate notice by the consumers.
